授業の目的 ／Class Purpose	この授業ではディプロマポリシーの中でも (1) 実践的で高度な外国語の適用できる (2) 言語の基礎にある多様な社会、文化、歴史、政治、経済などについて幅広い知識や教養を身に付けることができる (3) 教養現場で効果な英語に関する体系的で専門的知識と指導法を習得することができる ことを目的としている。 In this seminar we will study world cultures and societies through an exploration of the world’s airlines and airports. We will begin by looking at the culture of one particular airline, using the Pan Am television series to better understand what it is like to work at an airline company. Afterward, we will look at various airline companies around the world and some of the major airports in European, Asian, and North American countries. In this class I will be assisted by a former Singapore Airlines stewardess, who will share her inside knowledge of the airline industry and the airports of the world.
到　達　目　標 ／Class Objectives	Students will enhance their abilities to translate English into Japanese with a better understanding of the original ideas. They will also increase their knowledge of foreign culture, build their vocabularies, and practice using more complex English sentence patterns.

授業の進め方 ／Method of Instruction	Each week a new episode of the Pan Am series will be examined and discussed. Following this, there will be a presentation about one of the major airlines or airports of the world. Students will be expected to discuss and speak with each other about the ideas presented.
履修するにあたって ／Instruction to Students	Students are expected to actively participate in every class. All discussions will be held in English. Quizzes will be given online.
授業時間外に必要な学修 ／Expected Work outside of Class	Students will be asked to continue their study of English outside of the classroom, with materials decided after a consultation between student and teacher.　Students should expect to spend approximately 60 minutes each week to complete this work.
提出課題など ／Quiz,Report,etc	Students will be given weekly homework that must be prepared on time. All students will be expected to prepare a presentation about an airline or airport in one of the countries we are studying. 提出物のフィードバックに関しては、授業外で実施する。
成績評価方法・基準 ／Grading Method・Criteria	Weekly discussion, quizzes and presentation homework (60%), presentation (40%)
テキスト ／Required Texts	No textbook will be required. Teacher will supply students with all study material necessary for the class.
