The Society also arranges open lectures delivered by guest researchers.The Faculty of Humanities and Sciences organizes various classes so that students can go outside the campus to do some fieldwork. In a climatology (meteorology) seminar, students did on-site research on tea cultivation methods and the features of the tea plantation landscape of Wazuka Town famous for producing Uji tea. They also experienced " " a tea-tasting game in which participants guess chakabuki,the type of tea they drink.〉〉〉Subjects of Human and Culture DevelopmentThese subjects encourage students to study culture and people creating it, with a special focus on philosophy, education, arts (fine art, music, performing arts, film), and comparative culture. In and through these studies students explore human existence.〉〉〉Subjects of Language and LiteratureLanguage is an effective means for human beings to understand the world, to think, to express and communicate their will and emotions. Through learning deeply about Japanese and foreign languages, and literature both in Japan and abroad, students develop insight into man and society, so as to acquire a better understanding of others, and become adept at expressing themselves.〉〉〉Subjects of Humans, Society, and NatureHuman beings have lived together with nature, forming a local community at once. They have been organizing societies and creating cultures. Each of these cultures always has its own unique history. The subjects of this section aim to provide students with deep and comprehensive understanding of the world through studies of nature, society, and community with its own history.Close-UpIn the Department of Humanities, it is possible to acquire a first class teaching license of junior high school (Japanese, social studies, or English) and a first class teaching license of senior high school (Japanese, geography and history, civics, or English). There is an optional program for the first class teaching license of elementary school. Students can also take classes for curator certification and for civil service examinations.The Faculty of Humanities and Sciences was established in 1990 for “comprehensive study of human behavior and culture.” In 2006, the Department of Humanities was set up to offer students a chance to discover their own interests among a wide range of academic fields covering art, literature, history, social culture, education, and the environment.The Faculty’s educational philosophy is that students follow their own interests and research into their own themes.
